Crispy waffles with a fluffy inside topped in homemade whipped cream are basically the world's greatest breakfast. I have been making these waffles for years. They are very easy to create because thankfully, these waffles don't require you to separate the egg yolk from the egg white! Look at these waffles, perfect right?

Ingredients for Whipped Cream
Homemade Whipped Cream or if you're super fancy, Créme Chantilly is simple to make and 100x better than from a can.
- 1 Cup 33% Cream
- 2 Tablespoons Sugar (I use granulated but many choose to use icing sugar. both work!)
- .5 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
Add all the ingredients together and whip with a hand whisk, handheld blender, immersion blender or stand mixer with a balloon whisk attachment. Whisk the mix until stiff peaks form. Then you're done. EASY.
Tips
- Cold cream, cold whisk and a cold bowl are all going to give you the best results.
- The Cream roughly doubles in volume once whipped.
Homemade Berry Syrup
Homemade berry syrup is a great addition to homemade waffles and is incredibly simple to make. I like it because it is very hands-off and can be on the go while you are cooking the waffles. To make the sauce simmer the frozen berries in a small saucepan with the water. As the berries cook they will naturally break brown, but I like to aid this by breaking them up with a potato masher or similar tool. Once the berries are broken down I add the sugar and taste to see if it needs more sugar - the sweetness of the berries depends on how ripe they are when they were frozen so it's important to taste and adjust as you personally find satisfactory.
Homemade berry syrup consists of frozen fruit water and sugar. If you want it really thick you can always add cornstarch but I find that it doesn't need it. If you want your sauce to be silky smooth you could go through the step of straining out the seeds through a fine-mesh strainer before blending but you won't catch me doing that at 7 am 😏
Berry Syrup Recipe
- 1 Cup Frozen Berries (Strawberries, Raspberries, Blueberries, Blackberries or a blend of these etc)
- 2 Tablespoons Water
- 1 Teaspoon Sugar

- 1¾ Cups Milk
- ½ Cup Canola Oil
- 1 Tablespoon Pure Vanilla Extract
- 1 Teaspoon Table Salt
- 2 Tablespoons Granulated Sugar
- 4 Teaspoons Baking Powder
- 2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
Instructions
- With a hand mixer, beat the eggs on high until fluffy. This take about 5 minutes.
- Add the milk, oil, salt, sugar and baking powder. Stir to combine
- If you have a fine mesh sifter I find it beneficial to sift the flour after measuring and before adding it to the wet ingredients. You will want to Fold in the flour gently. Do not overmix. You don't want to deflate the eggs you worked so hard to whip.
- Spray a preheated waffle iron (I use a standard single Belgian Waffle iron and pour about ½ cup of batter for each waffle)
- Please refer to your waffle irons manual for instructions on how to set your waffle irons settings. I aim for a medium brown crust which on my waffle iron is the medium setting.Repeat until all the waffles are made. If you are wanting to serve all the waffles at the same time; place the cooked waffles on an oven safe plate or tray lined with a kitchen towel. Place another kitchen towel on top to prevent the waffles from drying out. I like to set the oven about 170°F or whatever the lowest setting your oven has.
